A colleague of mine sent out the above Christmas greetings and it got me all in my feelings. I almost cried because of the amount of love i could feel her trying to pour out of herself.

It reminded me of a conversation i had with my son a few days go. He asked me which season i liked better; Winter or Spring? I said Spring, because of the flowers and the way everything appears to be reborn. Then he asked me again; what do you prefer; Christmas or Valentine?

I had to think carefully for a while, then i said Christmas, because valentine represents an opportunity that not many people have, understand, or will ever be able to attain to. Simply put; Valentine is about love between couples. Not everybody has that. Not everybody will have it, and it’s not something you can easily give someone. It’s like a diamond that you can only give 1 person, but there are millions of people wanting to be that one. But Christmas is for everyone. It creates an opportunity for those who have, to share with those who don’t have. There’s a spirit of kindness in the air. This is the time when those who are in tears find some kind of respite.

A lot of people celebrate it because of Christ, yet, a lot of people just celebrate it because of the seasonal spirit/sense of kindness, hospitality and joy that brings to others. In short; Christmas is about giving, not really receiving.

For me, this winter season is about being the light in the Darkness. I mean; that’s what messiah came to do.

John 8:12 – 12 Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

John 12:46 – “I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.”

He has also called us to be lights to our world. In Matthew 5 vs 14 to 16, he says:

14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

2020 has been a year of darkness for many folks, but getting to this time and seeing love well-up in people’s hearts brings so much joy to mine.

I hope you can be a light in the darkness? because that is the true Miracle of the season
