(A Sukkoth Poem)

There’s a place in the depth of my heart

A place where you and I meet

A place where you bring the bread and I bring the wine

A place where you bring the fire and I bring the heat

That place is neither here nor there

Yet it’s here and there

There’s a place where you sit enthroned

A place where the City is called your own

I heard the prophet say; “The City would be called “the Lord is there””

So, I sought the city where You’re there.

A place where your light knows no bounds

A place where your light shines brighter than the brightest star

Brighter than the noon-day Sun, the Moon, the Stars and all their hosts.

That place is neither here nor there

Yet, it’s here and there.

I searched for the place where and when your heart called me home

And this humble heart said; “Yes, I’m yours”

That place is neither here nor there

Yet, it’s here and there.

A place our sun never sets sail, and our moon has no needs

A place that we’ve called home.
